Fortitude Farm is a 396ha dairy platform, milking 1500 crossbred cows through a 40 aside and 44 aside herringbone sheds. Our milk is supplied to Fonterra Co-Operative. The farm is located on the Waitaki Plains, 6km North of Oamaru Township.
Originally a mixed arable farm, it was converted to dairy in 2015, since then two neighbouring properties have been added to what we now call Fortitude Farm. The farm is irrigated using 7 pivots, fixed grid, and k-lines by water sourced from Lower Waitaki Irrigation Company. The dairy has in‑shed feeding and Protrack, and now uses Halter’s virtual fencing, pasture management, and real‑time cow monitoring system.
By utilising sexed semen across the herd, our group now breeds and rears its dairy-beef calves within our own farming system. This coordinated approach reduces bobby calves and supports more sustainable, long‑term outcomes across all properties.
